At its center is the ancient Ramayana — the story of Prince Rama, the demon king Ravana, and the monkey army that helps turn the battle between good and evil.

By sunset, the ritual reaches its most dramatic moment. Fire fills the ground as dancers leap, kick, and move through glowing coconut husks, turning the final scene into smoke, heat, and motion.
Ravana (or Rahwana)
A half demon and half sage whose father was a wise holy man (sage) and mother was a demon princess. Ravana is extremely powerful and very smart

Prince Rama is the hero of the story, a banished prince of Ayodhya who goes on a quest to rescue his beautiful wife, Princess Sita, after she is kidnapped by the evil giant Ravana.
As dusk deepens, the flames become part of the language. They cut through the smoke, the movement, the costumes, and the watching crowd.
