Postcards from the Edge

jakarta

Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia, located on the northwestern coast of Java. Facing the Java Sea, it has long been a major center of politics, trade, and culture, shaped by urban life and its role as a gateway to the archipelago.

Jakarta, indonesia

The city is always going somewhere. People cross, wait, rush, turn, vanish. Every street feels like a temporary meeting point between strangers who may never see each other again.

A city already in motion before I learned how to read it.

"I came to photograph the city, but Jakarta did not stay still long enough to be understood. It moved through traffic, rain, smoke, glass towers, street corners, and faces that appeared for a second before disappearing into the crowd."
